What Is Allergy Testing?

Skin prick testing (SPT) is the gold-standard method for identifying what your child is allergic to. It's a quick, minimally invasive test performed right during the OPD consultation that gives results within 15–20 minutes.

During the test, tiny drops of purified allergen extracts (common environmental allergens like dust mites, pollen, pet dander, mold, and specific food allergens) are placed on your child's forearm or back. A small, gentle prick is made through each drop — not deep enough to cause bleeding or significant pain. If your child is allergic to a particular substance, a small raised bump (wheal) appears at that site within 15 minutes.

Skin prick testing is far more reliable and specific than many commercially available "allergy panels" (particularly IgG food sensitivity tests, which are not scientifically validated). Aftercare & Recovery
